At Sydney Security Company, we understand how important it is for cafe and restaurant owners to protect their assets from theft, as well as, easily accessing supporting video footage when it comes to managing workplace injuries and unforeseen public liability incidences.

There are many risks associated with running a cafe and restaurant, and being able to reduce the risk and liabilities associated with staff management, serving customers, inventory and money theft are important to all business owners.

Examples of the main security threats your business may experience throughout the course of your cafe and restaurant business are:

inventory theft, false customer injury accusations, misbehaving staff, unforeseen OH&S accidents, equipment damage and/or theft, threatening customers, unexpected violence and/or daylight burglaries

There are five main security areas that your cafe and restaurant business may need to look at closely and consider implementing at your business location.

Typical security installation plan involves the following:

Security Components:

red-cctvOne of the most common concerns that we hear from our cafe clients is the importance of monitoring staff behind the cash register. A well positioned high definition camera would be able to capture the ingoings and outgoings of cash managed.

blue-cameraA common mistake business owners make is not installing the right camera resolution right from the beginning. We recommend all cafe owners install high definition IP cameras which will provide the necessary resolution to capture clearer and more detailed images should you need to claim for insurance or provide evidence of any unexpected incidents.

purple-cctvMissing inventory or misuse of business equipment are also both common concerns to cafe owners. Placing a well positioned camera within storage areas will deter staff or uninvited visitors from mishandling or misusing business assets.

green-cctvMost cafe businesses have both a front and back entrance. Ensuring all entrances are monitored will provide peace of mind to the busy business owner.

monitorAll our CCTV packages come with a quality 19 inch monitor to allow back office staff to monitor common areas whether there is frequent supervision or not. All our packages also include remote viewing connection to your smartphone or tablet so you can monitor your business from anywhere, anytime.

alarm-keypadA reliable alarm system will ensure that your business premise is well protected outside business hours. Ask about our mobile phone alert connection which will give the added comfort that you will be alerted should your business alarm has been set off.

Did you know there are quite a lot of common workplace negligence incidences and injuries that your patrons and staff can legally claim against you?

Common cafe and restaurant injuries include: unforeseen fire damage & burns, head injuries from slips, food poisoning, puncture wounds and cuts, mismanaged inventory, electrocution from faulty electrical equipment and/or contaminated food stock, are common examples of workplace hazards. Most owners feel that the ability to monitor and playback video footage can assist in educating staff on safety concerns and improve on current workplace safety practices.

Other notes to take into account for the installation process

While our team are trained to install our security equipment in all types of building structures, these are the common issues we encounter when performing an onsite inspection. So please advise on the phone with our sales representative if any of the following meets your situation, so we can draw up the most efficient way to install your security system with minimal time delays and disruptions to your business.

>Please let us know if you have suspended ceilings or a concrete ceiling. Also, please let us know if your walls are also gyprock or solid cement.

> If your premises do not have a manhole for our technician to perform cabling and wiring requirements in the ceiling or roof of your business, you may need to budget an extra small fee for possible conduit or external cabling requirements

> If your premises already have cabling in place from an old security system, please let us know so we can determine if the cables and wires are available for use on the new security system. Most of the time, this is possible if the structure is relatively new. If however the old security system was installed decades ago, we may need to replace all wiring to ensure your new system works effectively on new cables and wires.
