Pharmacy Security

You Are Here: Home / Pharmacy Security

We understand a pharmacy business has two main areas that require security awareness. These are the prescription medicines counter area and the general health retail product area.  Just like retail shops, pharmacies are highly susceptible to theft and robberies of valuable medicines and health products.

Did you know it is the owner’s responsibility to ensure that the general public is protected from negligent injuries and threats? As well as deterring theft and burglaries of valuable medicines and retail products, it is also the pharmacy owner’s duty of care to ensure the general public is in a safe environment. Unexpected physical assaults by other customers, violent and obscene behaviour and/or false injury claims may be deterred by the installation of an effective security solution.

Other main security threats your business may experience throughout the course of your pharmacy business are, for example: medical product theft, theft of retail goods, false workplace injury accusations, unforeseen OH&S accidents, after hour burglaries, product damage by customers or staff, unexpected violence and/or daylight robberies.

We have years of experience installing alarms, access control, CCTV surveillance and intercom systems for pharmacies. We have solutions that suit small to large pharmacy premises.

There are four main security areas that your pharmacy business may need to look at closely and consider implementing on your business location.

These are: Alarm and Prompt Intruder Phone Alert, Staff Panic Button, Smoke Alarm Sensor, Back To Base Monitoring, Access Control and CCTV Cameras with minimum 2 megapixel resolution and 80 degrees viewing angle with infrared distance up to 30 metres.

Real prices and security package examples of what we have installed for our pharmacy customers. Typical security installation plan involves the following:

Other notes to take into account for the installation process

While our team are trained to install our security equipment in all types of building structures, these are the common issues we encounter when performing an onsite inspection. So please advise on the phone with our sales representative if any of the following meets your situation, so we can draw up the most efficient way to install your security system with minimal time delays and disruptions to your business.

> Please let us know if you have suspended ceilings or a concrete ceiling. Also, please let us know if your walls are also gyprock or solid cement.

> If your premises do not have a manhole for our technician to perform cabling and wiring requirements in the ceiling or roof of your business, you may need to budget an extra small fee for possible conduit or external cabling requirements

> If your premises already have cabling in place from an old security system, please let us know so we can determine if the cables and wires are available for use on the new security system. Most of the time, this is possible if the structure is relatively new. If however the old security system was installed decades ago, we may need to replace all wiring to ensure your new system works effectively on new cables and wires.
